N is for…

Nuptials.

The only word that wont get my fiances eyes to bug out. When I mention the word wedding or ceremony he spazes . I have to reassure him that I havent planned this big over the top event.

We agreed on small  (very small). Ive posted about the wedding  nuptials a few times on this blog.

With him and I both being sick this past few weeks with the cough from hell and with so much to get done and pick up before the intended wedding date ( the end of this month) we decided to push back the union a few months. July. May is a bad luck month and I never wanted to be a June bride. My older cousin’s anniversary is that month , with another cousin’s in May and a younger cousin getting married June 2016, I’d rather have my own month.  🙂

We are low key people. We like simple.

So now July will be here before we know it, like April was. What do we have to do? Well for one.. I need a RI id.Yup I’ve lived here for 4 years and I have no proof except for the mail I get. The DMV is not fun.

Second we have to get our marriage licence. In RI we can get married the same day the licence is issued. But we aren’t in that much of a rush.  Another important to do is getting our rings.

Wow we are so behind!

We also need to make an appointment with the justice of the peace at the town hall.

Why are the smallest things a pain? 🙂

Wedding Wednesday: Flowers?

Should I carry flowers? How big or small should the bouquet be?  What type of flowers should I carry? Real or fake?

Its my wedding and I can do what I want , right? Well flowers seam a bit silly for my small wedding.  I love flowers. Calla lilies, hydrangeas  and orchids are my favorite. Since this is a budget DIY wedding I plan to buy some silk flowers and make a bouquet… I did it for my first wedding, and the bouquet came out wonderful, I wish I had a photo to share. ( I will look for one) .

There is this one shop on Etsy that I love, Wedideas. she is evil.. but in a good way. Most of her bouquets are out of my price range but they are gorgeous!! I wish I could afford a $105 bouquet . I really do.  Some are in the $30 to $70 range, still out of my reach. BUT she sells single stems of one of my favorite flowers…. calla lily!!. I love the Aruba color lilies .

And at $3 each, I think I can make something that I’ll love. Add some ribbon and the bouquet charms that will have my mother’s and grandmothers pictures in frames it shall be perfect.

Like I’ve said… Small wedding , no bridal party,and no reception… I am saving so much on flowers !

With only a few months to go, I need to make this bouquet ASAP! Keep an eye out for that post.

Wedding Wednesday! Less than 5 months to go!

The Food, cake and favors!

April 25 will be here soon. I am so thankful my fiance (Jon) and I are going small, tiny. Since I’ve been married before , I know the stress that can come with planning and I really don’t want to repeat that.

By now we should have a reception hall booked. But since we are going small we are just going to invite a small group of people to join us at our favorite local restaurant that opened a few months ago. Their food is sooooo good.  Its mostly BBQ ( which I don’t eat) luckily they have fish and chips. ❤

I’m not sure what they have for deserts. Jon and I are usually full. I was thinking about making personalized favors to the friends and family who come out to dinner with us. I found this idea on Buzzfeed.  42 Wedding Favors Your Guests Will Actually Want . My top picks are Shot glasses, Tiny pies in a jar, homemade jam or candy filled mugs.

Since there will be no cake I cant shove cake up my grooms nose, bummer, but then he can’t do it to me either , win!! For me and him I was thinking about buying dome cupcakes from our favorite bakery in Mystic Village (Connecticut), where we are spending our honeymoon.

I think we just saved a few thousand dollars right there. Big weddings are for the birds.. 🙂

There are a few people dear to me that won’t be at our wedding.  But they have front row seats in spirit!

My grandmother and mother meant the world to me. I miss them everyday.  I wanted to have something dedicated to them but since our wedding will be small I thought Bridal Bouquet charms would be the best.

With only 6 months until our big day, I thought I would share some details of Jon and my wedding each week. Its going to be small so I don’t think this will go 6 months..lol But I’m sure I will think of something .

Since my hubby to be is a gamer ( I am not) I thought I would incorporate some video game elements. I just purchased this 8 bit bow for my hair. ( side bun). Its wicked cute!

This bow is handmade by Burrito Princess on etsy.  She makes many other awesome 8 bit items like ornaments, magnets and jewelry.
