New Project Monday

I actually have 4 new projects. I always seem to have more than one WIP . ( work in progress) Some I forget for a few weeks, some for months. I have some going on years.

Up first…. I love scarecrows. So I wanted to make a cute little cuddler. ( Pattern by Once Upon a Hook crochet) I have the front and back panels done. This week I plan to make the legs and arms and the other little pieces  for him. Behind the cuddler is a scarecrow flag…. or will be. Pattern by Snappy Tots

Also by Snappy Tots , Sweet Ridges Cupcake bag… I don’t really like working with thick yarn but I wanted to use this skein of Bernat Baby blanket yarn from my stash and Hometown USA Phoenix Azalea.

And closing out this post is Fair Isle slippers from Crochet magazine , Winter 2019 issue. As you can see I just started. I have small feet so I am making the 5/6 size which is the smallest size and they are about a half inch big 🙂

Another Halloween season is done……I made a total of 57 hats from 9/1 – 10/ 26. That to me is Halloween season. My total is up by 5 from last year of 52. ( I wish I could make 50 hats a month all year long 🙂  )

Below are the new hats for the season. I sold a few Raggedy Ann hats and the Minecraft Pig . As always my pig seller was the Edith Hats with 26  down from 33 from last year. The dancing snoopy hat I make was a bit popular too . 🙂

 

 

Moving on… To keep me motivated for the rest of Year 9 I decided to try my Hook Challenge again. A few years ago I said I wanted to make something with every hook I had. Projects are still in the works. I might start up next month.

What is your favorite fairy tale and why?

The theme of the next few posts are Tales.

Today’s writing prompt is: What is your favorite fairy tale and why?

I don’t want to be corny and say the Little Mermaid, Snow White, or Cinderella. I had to look up a list of fairy tales to refresh my memory . A few I remember , The Princess and the Pea, Thumbelina, Hansel and Gretel , Rumpelstiltskin( not to be confused with the character on Once Upon a Time, a show I love. He also played Belle’s Beast, and Captain Hook’s Crocodile.)

Also A Christmas Carol was on the fairy tale list. A story I love. A movie I watch every year around Christmas. I love the characters in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland but not much of the story. While the Princess and the Pea and Thumbelina are cute, Hansel and Gretel is a bit dark, and Rumpelstiltskin makes me smirk at the end but the one I love most is Snow White and Rose Red . 

I remember reading it as a child.  I remember liking the story because no one got hurt , except the dwarf. ( but he deserved it)  And both girls were happy. They didn’t have to compete against each other.  As a little girl I wanted the little girls in my story books to be happy.

Blogging about something new

I usually stare at my computer screen hoping that words will just magically appear.  Sometimes only half a thought comes out and the post is left in my drafts for eternity .

I want to blog about something other than crochet, knitting, any thing yarn related. But i need a little push, a topic to talk about. nothing serious like politics or religion, or parenting, ( since I dont have kids) . And my life is pretty boring. I can probably fill a tweet more than a blog post.

Today I remembered Blogher and the writing prompts they use to have. I use to post when they did their #NaBloPoMo .The last one was September 2016. It seems they are more occupied with the conferences. But their prompts are still around.

Anyway a lot of the prompts “spoke to me” lol . So if you see a post about the one appliance I cant live with out.. Dont worry, its just me and I have not lost my mind 🙂

The first theme I may tackle is their august prompts, TALES.

 

YOP6 Week 40

Theres been a few projects that have been on my hooks and needles this past week. No FOs though. April is my birth month (the 9th is my birthday) so most of the projects I make this month will be for me 🙂 I noticed the dragonfly pattern trend on ravelry . So I decided to make the Radiating Dragonfly throw by Pattern Paradise . I want to add one more section but I am unsure of what color. So far I have light raspberry, paradise, amethyst, delft blue and bright orchid. I need 241 yards to for section F . that’s less than a skein of yarn of red heart super saver. I was thinking about using cranberry which is a red heart accent and I would have to use a little more than a skein of it since it is a smaller skein. I suck with color.

But before I make a decision I have to finish a Magickarp hat for a friend. Her daughter is a pokemon go player and collects these hats . I am almost done I just need to do some sewing.

My 3rd project of the week… I just wanted to do something with this yarn.
