What is your favorite fairy tale and why?

The theme of the next few posts are Tales.

Today’s writing prompt is: What is your favorite fairy tale and why?

I don’t want to be corny and say the Little Mermaid, Snow White, or Cinderella. I had to look up a list of fairy tales to refresh my memory . A few I remember , The Princess and the Pea, Thumbelina, Hansel and Gretel , Rumpelstiltskin( not to be confused with the character on Once Upon a Time, a show I love. He also played Belle’s Beast, and Captain Hook’s Crocodile.)

Also A Christmas Carol was on the fairy tale list. A story I love. A movie I watch every year around Christmas. I love the characters in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland but not much of the story. While the Princess and the Pea and Thumbelina are cute, Hansel and Gretel is a bit dark, and Rumpelstiltskin makes me smirk at the end but the one I love most is Snow White and Rose Red . 

I remember reading it as a child.  I remember liking the story because no one got hurt , except the dwarf. ( but he deserved it)  And both girls were happy. They didn’t have to compete against each other.  As a little girl I wanted the little girls in my story books to be happy.

Happy November

Ahhh November…. One of my favorite months. Its hoodie weather. 🙂 I love hoodies!

I lived in Florida off and on for a few years. Every November I was still in shorts and t shirts. Too warm for a hoodie. I hated it. I moved back to New England 6 years ago and I am so happy I get to wear my comfy hoodie and not look silly.

I’ve had my red hoodie for about 9 years now… it still fits and I love it.

Okay enough of the weird stuff… Back to November. Leaves changing color, My oldest brother , younger cousin and little sister and middle niece were born in November and my second favorite holiday resides in this month.. Thanksgiving ( Halloween being my 1st.) . I’m not a big fan of turkey but on this occasion I’ll eat it until I explode. My grandmother’s stuffing was amazing. And its a family secret.. hehe. I mastered it last year. I think my gram would be proud.

For the past 5 Turkey day years ,my boyfriend and I have made our own Thanksgiving dinners. Mostly Italian food.  This years dinner is still up in the air.  Maybe Chinese or something gluten – free. ( evil smirk ) . Any suggestions?

One thing is for sure… we will make a mess and I will be the one who cleans it up. grrrr. But the dinner will be made with love… too sappy?

NaBloPoMo

I just added my awesome blog to BlogHer’s National Blog Post Month blogroll. Its like National Novel Writers Month but with NaBloPoMo bloggers write a post for every day in November.

Why did I choose to do this as well? Punishment? No. I want to write more. I like to write. My life is pretty boring so I hope I can find things to write about all month long and work on my novel for NaNoWriMo.

I plan to not mention anything regarding politics or religion. I don’t want to make any of my readers angry. I plan to use this month to look deep into myself and find the amazing writer I know I can be. Maybe inspire people in some way. Work on my poetry. Work on my vocabulary 🙂

On to my next adventure

With Halloween orders done and shipped out I can get back to something I love just as much as crocheting.. writing. Its time to continue my journey to be a children’s author. I haven’t touched my book for my second lesson in over a month. My correspondence school ( SCI- Stratford Career Institute ) is “worried ” since they haven’t heard from me in a while.  I have to send in my 3rd exam, oh and payment..lol I wrote my writing exam in just under 10 minutes and haven’t touched it since. I was very busy with hats. Now I have to find the notebook my scene is in and type it up and send it out,and get my A+ 🙂  fingers and toes crossed. A good way to practice my writing is with National Novel Writing Month.  I plan on finishing a story for the past few years and get disappointed when I am unable to finish. In no way do I expect I will be able to write 50,000 words in one months but I an sure try for half 🙂 

WIP Wednesday

My work in progress for this Wednesday  is craft and non craft related. My work in progess for this Wednesday  is craft and non craft related.
My craft related WIP is something for the Halloween season. When  I first saw these sugar skulls,  I fell inlove. They’re awesome. And for some reason I am into skulls this year. I’m not sure where I will hang this project when its finished at this moment but I will find a spot.

Now for the non craft related WIP. I recently enrolled in Writing Stories for Children through Stratford Career Institute. I passed my first 2 tests, now I have to write  a scene using what I learned from my reading. I’ve been putting this off for a month.How hard can writing one little scene be?

HARD!

I got nothing!

It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece, but I want to get an A for it.  Lets start with an age range…. hows middle schoolers? now place…. gym class?
