Welcome to week 2. I love how many people are joining the A Year of Projects group over on ravelry. The count for week 1 was about 20 people posting their blogs. this number will decrease over the next few months. It always does. People get excited about something new and then life happens.
Newbies, don’t let life happen…lol You must eat, sleep and breathe a Year of Projects for the next 51 weeks…lol Just kidding.
I didn’t play with my hooks much this week 😦
Below is the Reindeer scarf . It sorta goes with the reindeer stocking cap from last week. I am loving this scarf because of the new- to me – stitches ( all the brown panels) .
This pic is the Snowman stocking cap i made last year that I plan to finish this month and make the matching Snowman scarf. ( all patterns by Snappy ToTs)
Here are a few of the antlers and ears for the Reindeer cap.
I am not happy how these earrings came out. The original project is Christmas light Garland . I thought earrings would be cute but these are too big. I think I will use a F or E hook instead of a G for my next pair.
And this is the absolute last time I will mention this infinity scarf. check out the FO here .
Learning new stitches is always fun!! I love the colors of the reindeer scarf. 🙂

Look at you, learning new stitches all the time. You are going to make a fantastic knitter as you have a crocheter. Love it when someone is so willing to learn something new. I have to admit, I learned to knit when I was 13 but couldn’t find any joy in it. Then I learned to crochet in my late teens and that was it. I was in love with yarn. I re-taught myself to knit only about 7 years ago. I still go to crochet for large projects (blankets) as it is sooooo much quicker.

Cute stuff! Those too-large earrings would make a fun decoration for something other than ears! I like them! Is everything here knit?!? Good job, Erin. One of these days I will pick up my needles and begin to learn again. If this year’s YOPping doesn’t inspire me to, I don’t know what will.

Cute projects. I’m so happy to see a crocheter in this group. All the others I’ve looked at have been very good knitters. Your infinity scarf looks great.

You are getting lots done! But like you say…we are all rarin’ to go the first few weeks and then life happens! LOL! I love the snowman items and the earrings are darling..too bad they’re too big but the idea is great! Was your Infinity scarf knitted? You mentioned joins were easier in crochet so I wasn’t sure. It looks lovely. I hope people stay with YOP even if they don’t get a lot done each week it is so much more motivating when people contribute..however small. I know I won’t get much done in the first 2 weeks of August as I will have a house full of company; adults and children for 2 weeks. Have a great week Erin and keep up the great projects!

Love your enthusiasm for YOP. I can see it working very well for me, and I just love the friendly and creative participants here.
It’s good to learn new stitches, and your reindeer scarf is a great project for this and looks so good too.
Your ‘earrings’ could always end up as tree decorations, and you could Bling them up a bit with beads and sequins, they would still look good as earrings though (go on… get yourself noticed, lol).

I think the Christmas lights look super cute – so you’re right a smaller hook and finer yarn might do the trick. It’d be fun to see a string of multicolour lights as a necklace too!
I was just thinking the same thing about the first weeks of the Year of Projects. Hopefully lots of people stick with it this year. It seems like a really diverse group which makes the updates really fun to read!

YOP enthusiasm waning??? I can’t imagine that happening : ) As I type this I must confess I’ve only finished a half of granny square in the past two days. Your Christmas in July theme is great, such pretty projects.
